The Role

As Export Sales Manager, you will be responsible for managing existing customers relationships primarily in Germany, Netherlands and Belgium, as well as generating new business. Your primary focus will be to increase lead generation, identify and win business in large scale utilities projects via main contractors and support DNO’s and distributors in your named geography.

The role will involve managing existing accounts, but you will be expected to generate new customers for the business. The primary sectors of focus will be the Utility Sector, where you will be selling our damage prevention products. You will work alongside a Business Development Manager who will focus on emerging markets within the European Utility sector. 

Your time on in the role will be split as 30% Account Management and 70% on Business Development with. You will manage the new accounts you bring into the business with support from the Commercial Director and sales administration team. 
The principal area of activity is the sale of  Utility Protection products, both cover & roll out format, Protection Rolls and Tapes & Mesh products.

Key Responsibilities of Role

1.Act as an ambassador for introducing our products to key contacts from the European Utilities industries.
2.Work alongside a Business Development Manager, also working within Europe but focusing on emerging markets.
3.Working with marketing to increase our visibility and brand awareness in the European Utility sector.
4.Secure meetings with key DNO’s with a view to how we become specified within the European market.
5.Deliver and exceed your sales budget, meeting agreed sales targets for additional business generation from existing and new accounts with support from the Business Development Manager & Commercial Director. 
70% of your time will focus on new business.
30% of your time will focus on existing business.
6.Identify and develop business in new contractors & potential distributors.
7.Feedback market intelligence around pricing, products and market dynamics.
8.Identify and put forward new products through our NPI process.
9.To engage and forge strong relationships with the commercial and operation team.
10.To work within pricing guidelines as set by the Commercial Director / CEO.
11.Submit a monthly report by the 5th working day of the following month commenting on sales performance, market prices, trends and activity, and provide an accurate 3-month forward forecast by product type.
12.Produce regular visit reports and communicate important information to any relevant parties.
13.To fully comply with all the Company’s systems, procedures, and policies.
14.Fully utilize the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
15.To attend regular sales meetings, management meetings and attend exhibitions if required.
16.Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and skills.

The Candidate
  • Fluent in a European language (German, Dutch or French preferred) and English, both spoken and written.
  • Driving licence.
  • A background in the European Utilities Sector with the ability to introduce to several key influencers and decision makers within the sector.
  • Significant experience in a similar role in Sales & Business Development.
  • Drive and determination to succeed in a career in sales.
  • Self-Motivated, dynamic, and passionate about developing new business.
  • Strong Communicator.
  • Computer Skills and Competency in basic MS Office Applications
  • Good presentational skills
  • Good analytical skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Based in Europe, ideally Germany, Netherlands or Belgium.  The role will require some time to be spent at head office in Liverpool for the first few months.

Desirable:

  • Experience of SME Manufacturing environment.
  • Plastics background
  • Experience of using CRM systems.
  • Degree educated.
