The Role

Our client, a global leader in the industrial component industry is now looking to appoint an experienced, commercially astute, financial leader to oversee their EMEA region. 

The EMEA Finance Director is responsible for providing key financial and business support/oversight to the business.  This individual is expected to drive business improvement, implement/maintain system of internal controls and manage the financial planning and analysis for the region. This key leadership position will lead and develop a staff across the EMEA region, including ~6-7 direct reports, to achieve financial and business objectives. In addition to this, the Finance Director will play a key role in helping to drive commercial sales across the region and will enjoy close working partnerships across both the commercial and sales functional teams to help maximise growth revenue targets. 

Due to continued growth plans across the EMEA region, our client would be looking for somebody with a strong sense of career mobility and would expect the successful candidate to be able to move into a more senior VP Finance in the medium-long term. 

The Candidate

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strong business partner at all levels of the EMEA operations, including a “seat at the table” during EMEA leadership team meetings.
  • Drive overall P&L and Cash optimization for the region, via data analysis and recommendations.
  • Accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Enerpac EMEA financial results. 
  • Lead executive presentations of financial results, including providing insights and recommendations to help drive business results.
  • Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modelling for regional and senior company leadership.
  • Coordinate and prepare forecasts, budgets, and financial outlooks.
  • Coordinate with operations team to understand and report the commercial impact of operational items including (but not limiting) plant operational efficiencies, price variances and inter-company allocations and mark-ups.
  • Support commercial teams on quote development, pricing, and commission plans.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including cost and profitability improvement initiatives working cross-functionally with other functional leaders within the business.
  • Develop, support, and evaluate business cases for capital expenditures.
  • Analyse proposed product development projects, sales growth opportunities and other key initiatives, including determination of return on investment and payback; prepare summary commentary, including recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Oversee regional statutory audit activities while ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support U.S. overall external audit activities
  • Coordinate the finance-related activities across the EMEA Finance Team and work with all direct reports w/ ongoing development plans.
  • As required, lead financial analytics around future/potential acquisition, divestiture, and business integration activities.
  • Assist with internal control implementation, evaluation, and documentation as needed.

  • Desire to take accountability for results by acting with integrity and possessing a strong drive for results and execution.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, effectively managing competing priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced, challenging, and flexible hybrid work environment.
  • Strongly proficient using electronic spreadsheet, database, word-processing, and graphical presentation software, preferably Microsoft Office applications and specifically Power BI.  Oracle and Hyperion (HFM) knowledge is strongly preferred.

Education and Experience

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business with specialization in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • MBA and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus.
  • Qualified Accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA (Minimum of 8 years PQE)

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in a corporate setting; at least five years of experience in directing multi-person staffs (supervising); record of performance in working in financial and/or operational business areas.
  • Experience in budget/forecast preparation plus monthly review/variance analytics
  • Experience in management of inter-company accounts, foreign currency transactions/translation, preparation of financial statements and analysis
  • Record of performance in working in both financial and operational business areas. 
  • Project management, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are required.
