Director Technical Centre - Industrial - Manufacturing

The know-how and experience in flat roofing systems are concentratedand centralised at the Technical Centre with colleagues in locations in Germany, Netherlands, France and the UK. Headed by Technology Managers the various flat roofing technologies in the Group are covered by interdisciplinary and international teams and supported by functional experts for design, customer interaction and validation. The key task of the organisation is to drive roofing innovation while limiting the risk and ensure that solutions are fit for purpose.

The Director Technical Center for Flat Roofing will develop a clear vision for each of the relevant Technology fields taking a holistic view from supply and raw material availability to Technology trends to current and future capabilities of the company and mid to long-term customer demands in close exchange with the company Management Team. In addition, this person will provide guidance and coaching to the Technology Directors and provide support for the formulation and execution of Technology Strategies in Flat Roofing and Waterproofing and keep an overview of budget and investments. 

Major results and/or performance levels expected out of the job

 Drive and coordinate strategic projects and interaction between the group functions.
 Develop profitable group solutions and an Innovation Roadmap in the Technology fields of modified Bitumen Membranes, Waterproofing, Synthetic Membranes and other related areas.
 Support Management and group functions in strategic decisions and provide technical expertise for due diligence, M&A as well as PMI projects.
 Ensure advancement and continuous improvement in flat roofing Technology
 Ensure good functioning interfaces internally/externally and facilitate collaboration with external institutes.
 Implement easy processes and management principles that support an efficient working environment.
 Roadmap for each Technology and development projects for Group and Countries that help to implement the company strategy.
 Develop value adding new flat roofing systems for our decision making customers with high transparency for the stakeholders.
 Development of differentiating solutions and new Technologies which enable BMI to profitably grow while keeping the business risk on an acceptable low level
 Support the Director of Technical Centre in operational topics and strategic projects

3. Knowledge & Experience Required

 Degree in material sciences or engineering
 Recognised relevant professional experience in roofing, related material and technology/development management
 Excellent management and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
 Strong commercial acumen
 Strong language skills in English and preferably in German
