Business Development Director - Health & Social Care - HealthTech

The Role

Sitting on our Senior Management Team, you will own business development strategy and execution to meet our ambitious growth targets.  You will lead a national team of Business Development Managers tasked with delivering contract renewals and new business against organisational objectives.  As team leader you will cultivate a proactive strategic business development culture. You will foster close relationships with stakeholders across the commissioning and policy setting landscape and be the custodian of Quality for all tenders and contract submissions.

Main responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • To build annual revenue budgets to meet strategic growth targets.
  • To line manage Business Development Managers in their sales and retention roles to ensure annual business objectives and targets are met
  • To lead sales strategy, ensuring all sales materials, from initial contact to service go-live, appropriately pitch our services
  • To support Business Development Managers in closing opportunities, in particular where deal-closure requires a top-down internal champion on a regional/national level
  • To implement a continuous development program for Business Development Managers, to broaden both their tactical and strategic skillset
  • To develop strategic relationships at regional or national level that will aid further revenue growth
  • To provide market insight to our pricing strategy and assist in keeping pricing tools up to date.
  • To deliver accurate forecasting as part of management reporting.
  • To work closely with other SMT members to ensure business development is aligned to clinical, operational and evaluation priorities
  • To develop working relationships, partnerships and projects with others in our sector at regional and national levels to develop and enhance the work of company
  • To represent company in national / regional forums /conferences / networking events and make presentations and delver seminars and/or workshops where appropriate
  • To work closely with the Marketing team to ensure key messaging is aligned to business objectives and the overarching values of the company
  • To support the activities of the bid coordinator to ensure opportunities are identified, and bids and tenders submitted are of highest quality
  • To ensure our Partnership strategy aligns with organisational objectives and oversee execution against strategy
  • To lead the development of a Channel strategy for our new suite of digital mental health apps which will be sold B2C direct to families and also to schools, universities and employers
  • To read and understand mental health strategy reports, children and young people’s plans, developments in the field of young people and mental health and having a clear grasp of the agenda driving our customers/commissionersTo undertake any requests made by the Chief Executive Officer that are relevant to the post
The Candidate

Person Specification:

Essential Experience:

  • At least five years’ experience as the Sales Principal within an equivalent organisational framework
  • A demonstrable track-record of managing and developing successful Business Development teams
  • Significant experience of working with the Public Sector, understanding the challenges faced by commissioners in health, social care and education, and with existing relationships at a senior level within relevant public bodies
  • Considerable success in developing sales opportunities and turning them into successful contractual relationships, in particular in selling complex services where demand has to be created

Knowledge

  • Educated to degree level
  • Have an awareness of current debates within the counselling/psychotherapy/mental health worlds

Aptitude and Attitude

  • Must have a positive, “can-do” and team player attitude
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks
  • Communicate, understand and be understood by different groups and individuals in different settings and various situations
  • Work in a way that positively engages with issues of diversity and difference
